CROSSING THE EMPTY QUARTER IN UAE
15 DAYS 700 KM ON CAMELBACK
The HHC (Hamdan Bin Mohammed Heritage Center)
is formed by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum,
Crown Prince of Dubai, in order to preserve Emirati culture and heritage.
Last December 2019, we crossed on camelback the Empty Quarter of UAE, 700km in 15 days.
In this venture, two Emirati boys, 5 and 7 years old, were part of the trip riding the camels,
with a shared experience from grandfather to grandson. I have seen the beautiful transmission
of the country’s rich history and heritage among current and future generations.
My heart was filled with their hospitality, sharing their knowledge of the unseen traditional Emirati cultures.
Living with the camels 24 hours a day, very utopic and mysterious animals,
our protectors with their attachement and a unique type of Love.
Strongly caring for us, even in the hard sun and sandstorms, walking those long distances,
crossing different landscapes, from the historical dunes stepping to the futuristic city of Dubai.
I am really thankful to HHC to have made me share this experience, we were One together, a family.
